The idea has been in the works for 20 years, ever since Linda Balentine launched the concept as a divorced, single mom, homeless and broke. “Franchising was my goal from the beginning” she says of the one of a kind business model. “Crowning Touch Senior Moving Services is the only moving company in America with an auction house, consignment shop and real estate division and we are ready to change the face of the moving industry,” explains Linda from her corporate headquarters in Roanoke, VA.

Downsizing seniors are part of a swelling demographic, totaling 80 million. They will need a lot of specific help over the next 30 years. The service menu at Crowning Touch was designed to handle all the concerns not currently addressed by moving companies. Almost every senior faced with a move into a smaller space will have items to sell. Crowning Touch is poised to absorb that problem by selling a variety of assets including cars, furniture, art, jewelry, tools, antiques and collectibles through either their consignment shop or their auction house, offsetting the cost of the move. Proprietary software allows the company to process tens of thousands of items annually through their auction house without an auctioneer. Bidders can bid in house or remotely, using smart phones or tablets.

Selling a senior’s home also requires a special approach says Balentine. “We specialize in selling homes ‘AS IS,’ since the average senior’s home was built in 1970 and is very outdated. We build in remodeling allowances for a quick sale, opening up a market component for buyers and eliminating stress for our senior clients.”

No detail is too small for this customer centric, award winning Crowning Touch team. These professionals will find homes for pets, reconnect all electronics, and hang pictures and mirrors. The team even brings breakfast to their clients on moving day.

Balentine says Crowning Touch hopes to bolt on to existing moving companies as they work through their franchise strategy for the East Coast, south from Virginia. Their franchise fee range is $50,000-65,000 depending on the size of the senior demographic within selected zip codes. According to Balentine, every major city in America needs a Crowning Touch in order to meet the needs of America’s aging population. “We make it easy, with our ‘one call does it all’ approach. The Greatest Generation and the Boomers that follow deserve the very best we can give them.”

Balentine will be at the International Franchise Expo at the Javits Center in New York, June 18th – 20th. She will be available for interviews and can be reached via cell phone at 540‑556‑5800.
